Hello, I am testing Confluence Data Center in stand-alone mode for a project at my company to see if it meets our needs, and I have noticed that searching via the classic Confluence search bar only works if you type in at least one complete word of what you are looking for in order to find it in the results.
For example, if I search for “the file”:
- I can only find what I'm looking for in the list if I type “file,” not if I type “the,” “fi,” etc.
Is this normal for Confluence, or is it because I'm testing it without an internet connection at the moment?
Hi @Erika ,
Yes, this is normal behavior in Confluence Data Center and is not related to running it offline.
The classic Confluence search uses an indexed, token-based search, which means it only matches complete words that have been indexed. Partial words (like “fi”) and very common stop-words (like “the”) are ignored by design to keep search results relevant and performant.
This behavior is expected in both stand-alone and clustered Data Center setups, regardless of internet connectivity.
