My confluence documentation app is deactivated due to inactivity and l lost my documentation spaces. Please help me to retrieve all the information. I had to re-add the confluence account yesterday, but couldn't able to retrieve anything.
Hi @Rajani
The site will normally be de-activated after 120 days of inactivity and the content will be deleted shortly after that.
I have raised a ticket to the Atlassian support team on your behalf. They will get back to you within 1-2 business days.
Best regards,
/Staffan
Hi! The exact same issue happened to us. I didn’t receive any email about our space being deactivated and all of the data being deleted. I reactivated the account yesterday but I can’t find any of our data.
And all of our platform technical documentation got deleted in the process and I wish we could at least download it or something because we lost invaluable data that we didn’t have backed up anywhere else…
is there anything that can be done? We have been logging in every year, maybe past 120 days something happened and we haven’t been active but if I had seen a notice that we’re going to lose our data I would’ve absolutely backed things up at least…

Hi @Rajani
We're really sorry to hear you are no longer able to see your spaces.
Checking the latest emails sent to your account, it seems there was some warnings about your Free site r****b.atlassian.net on February about inactivity and requiring to get back to Confluence, so it wouldn't be deactivated.
Checking the records, your Confluence product was deactivated on 2026-03-03.
In general, we don't support recovery/restore data for deleted sites or any other destructive activities, but in that case, since the deactivation happened at on 2026-03-03, it is no longer possible to recover any data, even on a best effort.
For more information on the data restore policies and Free inactivity, please see:
If you have taken any backups (highly recommended) you should be able to re-import the data back into your Confluence.
Regards,
Jessica

Hi Jessica! Is there any way to check for our account as well? I’m not sure when the deactivation happened for us because we didn’t really get a notice but we lost all of our data and it’s all technical specs that we didn’t have backed up anywhere else. I reactivated yesterday but found nothing - not sure what can be done to recover absolutely anything…

Hey @Rajani ,
On top of what Staffan said, it’s also worth checking the data retention policy: Track storage and move data across apps / What happens to Free plan apps if they're inactive for too long?
This explains how long data is kept after deactivation and whether recovery is still possible, depending on the timing. 👀
Generally, regarding billing and licensing questions, you can use the following channel: Atlassian Support: Pricing, Billing & Licensing 🎟️
Cheers,
Tobi

Hi Tobi! I’m still not even sure when our account was deactivated because I checked and saw we’ve had activity over the past few months. How can I figure out when our confluence was deactivated and all data was deleted?
perhaps I’m checking in the wrong place…
