We use Confluence a lot, it's great.

But now we're having problems with pages containing .tiff images.

They're not displaying. If they appear briefly, they disappear immediately.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Is there a solution?

Hi @Uhl_ Kevin-Daniel

What Confluence can do with TIFF

  • Attach a .tif / .tiff file to a Confluence page like any other file
  • Show a file preview

Known limitations

  • You cannot display a TIFF file inline directly on a Confluence page. Confluence only renders GIF, JPEG and PNG
  • Because Confluence relies on the browser's ability to render images, TIFF inline display depands on whether your browser supports viewing TIFF directly. Many browsers doe not natively render TIFF inline
  • In practice, users may see the ITFF either as a link/attachment preview rather than a full image embedded into the page content.

This was no problem so far.

Do you need more infromation?
Do you have a solution for that?

Hey!

I’ve run into the same issue as well. Unfortunately, this isn’t a bug but a current limitation of Confluence, TIFF images aren’t supported for preview.

We also frequently need to share images in Confluence, so I hope Atlassian adds native TIFF preview support in the future. For now, converting TIFF files to PNG, JPG, or PDF is the only reliable workaround.

@Uhl_ Kevin-Daniel if you need a way to find, download or even delete .tiff files given they do not show as hoped then you might find our app Attachment Manager useful.

WebP files have similar limitations.
