So....my problem is as follows:
I have 1 user who isn't able to use the 'Open Document' link on a page to open the document contained on that page in Word. An AD login box always appears denying him the right to open. Other users in his group are able to use the same button successfully to open the document. All are running Win7 with Office 2010. Have any of you admin types run into this before and how did you go about diagnosing it? I see here (https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFKB/%27Edit+in+Word%27+Requires+Login+or+Doesn%27t+Work+at+All) that this is somwhat a known issue, but since this is just a single user reporting this, it can't really be that. Might other factors be at work, like access policies?
Hi Ægir
From the sound of the issue, I suspect that the most likely problem is local configuration if the user's machine, so to test this theory can you get them to try the functionality on a machine that you know works for other users?
The most likely problem is a permissions issue, as described in this knowledge base article so please check and ensure that the user's machine is correctly configured: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFKB/Troubleshooting+Read-Only+problems+in+the+Office+Connector
If this doesn't solve the problem then please open a ticket with Support, mentioning this Answer, so that we can investigate your issue and update this page afterwards.
All the best,
John
Thanks for that answer. I will.
