Hello, team,
Page jumps and auto-scrolls when placing cursor on text with inline comments in Edit mode
There is a frustrating UI bug in the Confluence editor. When editing a page, clicking on a text segment that contains an inline comment causes the page to automatically scroll or "center" unexpectedly.
Steps to reproduce:
Open a long Confluence page with multiple inline comments.
Enter Edit mode.
Scroll down and click to place the cursor on a text line that has an existing inline comment highlight (visible or hidden in edit mode).
Actual result: The page scrolls/jumps randomly, often losing the current editing context.
Expected result: The cursor should stay where clicked without any page movement.
Environment: Chromium-based browsers (Chrome/Edge).
Hi @Михаил Михайлович I'm unable to recreate this issue using Confluence Cloud. I took a look on Atlassian's Jira Site and didn't find any open issues regarding you situation.
Do you have an idea how 'long' the page needs to be and how many inline comments you need to have?
Are you using Confluence Data Center or Confluence Cloud?
Could you post a video of the behavior you are seeing?
@Dan Breyen Hi, thanks for the fastest answer.
Playing with page I think I found out a reason. Every time the cursor lands on text with a comment, a comment box appears on the right side of the page and the page "compresses", causing the text to run away due to the appearance of new hyphens.
It would be great if the "Show/Hide inline comments" button not only hides comments, but also prevents them from appearing when you click on the text.
I hope I managed to explain the idea)
I couldn't figure out how to upload a video, so I uploaded it to Google Drive.
