Failures like this are fairly common, and unfortunately the message is often quite generic, so the first step is usually to rule out a browser-side problem before looking deeper.

I would start with the basic checks first:

1. try the same action in a private/incognito window
2. clear the browser cookies and cache
3. test it in a different browser as well

That helps confirm whether this is just a local session or browser issue, which happens quite often with Atlassian pages.
