Background
We use Confluence for our technical documentation for both internal users (associates) and external users (clients).
Our users (internal and external) will watch pages, so they receive email notificaitons when content has changed. However, the 'page watch' email notification is not easy to understand when it shows the 'changed' content. It shows the 'page comparison' view which highlights the content that has changed. Since we use alot of macros on our pages, all of the macros are displayed as well. This makes it difficult to read the content, especially for our external users who are consumers of content in Confluence and not editors of content. These users are not familiar with the usage of the macros.
Also, many of our landing pages, that users are watching utilize the 'include-page', 'excerpt-include' or 'multi-excerpt-include' macros to pull content in from other pages.
We have tried using the 'page watch' email not showing the 'changed content' which directs the user to the page history which takes them to the 'page comparison' view.
Question
If you use Confluence, for technical documentation, how do you handle the notification of the changed content to your users? Do you provide an email notificaiton that has a summary of the content changes?
