Hi everyone,
Over the past few weeks, my team has been consistently running into issues with PDF exports in Confluence Cloud:
- Images stopped appearing in PDF exports
- Excerpt / Excerpt Include content also fails to appear
- Occasionally, images were replaced with a gray placeholder (“preview unavailable”), but now they’re not showing at all
As of the last two days, PDF export has fully stopped working for us. We can’t export single pages or the entire space.
We haven’t changed anything in our setup (no custom PDF CSS, no new apps, no permission changes).
Any guidance or confirmation would be really appreciated. This is critical for us as we must deliver image-heavy PDF documentation to our clients. At the moment, we can't produce usable PDFs at all.
Hi @Nina Misson
You and a lot of others were recently complained about PDF export issues - missing images, etc.
So I'm thinking... would reindexing of the Confluence site work?
Now, as far as I know, reindexing a cloud site manually is not possible - can only be done by Atlassian Support.
But there's a workaround - importing a dummy space triggers a full site re-index.
I documented this little hack here: https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Confluence-articles/Reindex-a-Confluence-Cloud-Site-manually-workaround/ba-p/3061612
Might be worth a try...

Hi Kris,
An interesting suggestion, thank you. Fortunately, Atlassian was able to fix the issue. PDF exports seem to be working now, and they include both images and excerpts.
