No horizontal alignment of photos in column

Hi!
I want to align two photos horizontally in a column and while I edit it, the photos align (see edit mode screenshot). However, when I publish it, the photos are not aligned anymore (see published screenshot). Is this a bug or is the some way I can work around it?
