Moving pages from one space to another - child pages missing

Hi Community,

we've just created a separate space for archived documents. When trying to move them from the current space, we ticked the box 'Include children' -- but the child pages weren't moved, only the parent one. Restrictions are the same for both spaces.

Is it some bug, do you have any troubleshooting ideas?

Hi @Reka Harasztos ,

If I remember correctly, in the past you had an option to select if you'd like to move child pages or not. Now, as I've checked in multiple instances, child pages are moved automatically and you just have a 'note' that the page you're moving contains XY number of children.

Anyway, the question would be - once you move the parent page, do child pages stay in the same space but just change the parent to the 'upper one'? Or something else happens?

Also, does this happen to all users or only specific ones? Also, does it happen on any browser(s) or you've tested only one (although, that shouldn't have an impact).
On an additional note - has this happened before, or is it a recent issue?

I've tried checking JAC and open bugs related to this but didn't find anything open at the moment.

If you're on Enterprise, you probably can reach out to Atlassian Support for them to have an additional check of this.

Cheers,
Tobi

Hi Tobi, thank you for the swift response.

Re: once you move the parent page, do child pages stay in the same space but just change the parent to the 'upper one'? Or something else happens?

They stay in the old page, and lose their mother page. So they became orphans. We tested it 2x, on one occasion they were originally in a folder *no parent page, the other time they were nested under a parent page - result was the same, the child pages didn't get moved either way.

Hasn't happened before, and this time we moved a very limited number of pages (c. 45ish) so I suspect it's a glitch. Will reach out to Atlassian Support for sure!

Thanks again:)
Cheers,
Reka
