I accidently moved the home page and nested child pages into a different space. Now when I go to move them back to their original home, I can't select the original space. The move button is greyed out. Here's the process I'm following:
1) select home page on left toolbar, click on 3 dots ...
2) select move
3) select the space in the dropdown I want to move the pages back to
4) move button is greyed out
I've also tried creating a new space and moving them there. same, same.
Is this a role permission thing? I'm set as admin in the account so I don't understand how that could be. It let me move them just fine. It just won't let me move them back.
Thanks for any advice. I really appreciate it!
This is a known edge case in Confluence Cloud. The root cause is almost always one of two things
1. The destination space already has a page at the same URL path. If the space you're moving back to already has a home page (which it almost certainly does), Confluence won't let you overwrite it by moving another page on top. The home page of a space is a protected anchor — you can't replace it via a move
2. Your admin role is space-level, not site-level. Being a Space Admin doesn't always grant cross-space move rights. You need to be a Confluence Site Admin (under site-admin role in Atlassian Admin) for that
Instead of moving the home page itself, create a new page in the original space, then copy the content over manually or use the 'Copy page' option. Afterward, set the new page as the space home under Space Settings → Overview. Then delete (or archive) the misplaced one
