Migrate a whole JIRA instance to another

Hi community,

our subsidiary company has still its own jira instance with own projects, users, worksflows and so on.

Because of several reasons we want to include all projects, users, workflows and all the other content to our jira instance. 

How can we do this the easiest way? Are there any risks? Do we have to expect any kind of trouble?

Is this possible out of the box or do we have to install an add-on? if so, who needs this add-on? The instance which will be migrated, or the one in which the old instance will be migrated?

Hi Lars,

It is possible to merge two or more jira instances. However the process is quite hard it needs to be tested on a stagging instance first.
