I don't have the same information on my confluence

I have this

Hi @Macors Romain

You are pointing the documentation for Confluence Cloud.

I think you are in DataCenter, the related documentation can be found here : https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/excerpt-include-macro-148067.html

In the Cloud the Excerpt and Include-Excerpt macro are managing the multi excerpt, just keep that in mind once your company will migrate to Cloud :)

Hi @Macors Romain, this is normal. The Insert Excerpt macro only displays an excerpt that already exists somewhere else, it doesn't create one. As long as no excerpt has been defined on the source page, there's nothing to list, which is why your dialog only shows the "Page contenant l'extrait" field and not the "Nom de l'extrait" dropdown you were expecting.

The steps:

  • On the source page, first insert the Excerpt macro (type /excerpt, or /extrait on your French interface), put your content inside it and give it a unique name, then publish the page.
  • On the destination page, open the Insert Excerpt macro, pick the source page, and the Nom de l'extrait dropdown will now offer the excerpt you just created.

One thing worth knowing: Atlassian is now steering people toward synced blocks as a simpler way to reuse content across pages, so depending on your need that may be the better route. The Excerpt macro you need to create first is documented here: Insert the excerpt macro

Hello

Thank you for your help

I do your procedure but when i want to include a second excerpt it doesn't work because i don't have the possibility to give a name at the Excerpt macro

Hi @Macors Romain, Cyrille is right, and your screenshot confirms it: you're on Data Center, where the Excerpt macro has no name field. On Data Center a page can hold only one usable excerpt, so if you put two Excerpt macros on the same page, Excerpt Include always pulls the first one and ignores the rest. The naming step I mentioned earlier only exists in Cloud, which is exactly why you can't select the second excerpt here.

The way to do this on Data Center is one excerpt per page:

  • Put each excerpt on its own source page (a single Excerpt macro per page), then on the destination page add one Excerpt Include per source page. Each include targets a page and brings back that page's one excerpt.
  • If what you really want is to reuse a larger block rather than a short excerpt, the Include Page macro embeds the entire contents of another page instead.

This is the documented behaviour: with more than one Excerpt macro on a page, Excerpt Include shows only the first. Excerpt Include Macro (Data Center)
