I have multiple MBOX files that I need to import into Outlook. I have seen both manual methods and automated tools online. Which option is more reliable and safer for complete data migration without losing emails or attachments?

Hey, I've been through this exact situation a while back and honestly wasted almost two days trying the manual route before finally switching to an automated tool. Let me break it down from real experience.

The Manual Method - More Trouble Than It's Worth

So the "manual" approach basically involves importing MBOX files through Thunderbird, then using Outlook's import wizard or some intermediate conversion. Sounds simple on paper, but here's what actually happens:

- Folder hierarchy gets completely scrambled
- Attachments either go missing or show up corrupted
- Formatting of HTML emails breaks badly
- If your MBOX file is large (say, 10GB+), Thunderbird just crawls or crashes
- You end up doing the same thing 3-4 times hoping for a different result
I tried it with a 6GB MBOX export and honestly, it was a nightmare. Not recommended unless you have maybe 5-10 small emails to move.

What Actually Worked - Softaken MBOX to PST Converter
A colleague suggested I try MBOX to PST Converter and I'm genuinely glad I did. Here's what stood out:

- Supports batch conversion - loaded multiple MBOX files at once, saved hours
- Maintained the complete folder structure without any manual reorganization
- All attachments, inline images, and email headers came through perfectly intact
- The preview feature before conversion is a lifesaver - you can verify everything looks right before committing
- Works with MBOX files from pretty much any client - Gmail Takeout, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, The Bat!, Eudora, you name it
- No need to have Outlook pre-installed on the machine just to run the conversion

The interface is straightforward enough that even non-technical users on our team managed it without calling IT every five minutes.

Hello @Brantanson01

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

You have posted your question in the forum specifically for Confluence product from Atlassian. How does your question relate to the Confluence product?

If this is truly about Outlook and has nothing to do with Confluence, you might want to try an internet search for "import mbox files into outlook" to find relevant information and sites where you can post your question.
