Lost all my content on an unpublished page

I have copied and edited a page for quite a while earlier today, but wasn't ready to publish it yet. I inserted a section and then tried to remove that new section and all my work was deleted.

How do I get it back???  It said confluence was saving my changes but I have no way to go back to various versions that were saved.  HELP!

I think your content is probably lost.

Confluence does save a draft, thats right. But in the draft mode, only the last version is saved, there is no versioning. Different versions are only saved when you publish a page.
