I have a problem of creating a link to diagram A from diagram B.
Upon link creation I have 3 options:
- link to a page within diagram - not my usecase
- link to a page within my company space - not really what I want to cause one page may contain multiple diagrams
- insert straight link - this is what I want to use to create a straight link to a certain page within certain diagram
Problem is - I cannot find a way to generate link from diagram A to use it in linking dialogue in diagram B
1. Is it possible?
2. If not what workarounds would allow me to achieve that?
3. If there is no workaround to do that what do my company need to create a ticket for feature request or is this question suffice?
@Егор Екатеринин Have you tried inserting an Anchor in the paragraph where diagram B is on the page? Then, rather than linking from somewhere within the diagram to the other diagram, you could insert a link next to/below diagram A with text like "go to diagram B" and this would be a link to the anchor on the other page.
Hi @Егор Екатеринин . The first question would be which diagramming app you are using, but since diagramming apps always work in Confluence macros, I think I can answer on behalf of the most relevant ones (not just our draw.io apps).
Diagramming apps function inside a Confluence macro. You can link between tabs of the same diagram (you already mentioned this option), but you can't link to diagrams on other pages - only to the page itself. This is because you can't deeplink between two macros on two different Confluence pages. The only workaround I know to achieve what you are looking for is to embed (NOT copy) diagram B on the Confluence page for diagram A under a separate header, and then link the header to the shape in diagram A. But I have to be honest…that's quite a dirty workaround.
The feature request you mentioned would be to open an issue with Atlassian. If the Confluence macro API allows app vendors to do exactly what you are requesting, we could for sure add a functionality to utilize it.
