JIRA Label Macro Question

Hello All,

I am hoping someone on here might have a solution or workaround to the following issue. I recently had someone devise a macro with JIRA labels that based on who the assignee of a ticket was would automatically add a specific label (like a team label). I noticed that we had an issue in which when a label was added, it would delete the existing labels and have just the automatic label. Is there a way within the macro to have the existing labels stay in the ticket and just append the automatic label? I asked the person who helped with the macro and they said there is no way. I wanted to check with the larger community and see if anyone knew of a trick. Thanks in advance.

If you are using Confluence automations to add the label it will append the labels to the labels on the page.  If you are not using automation could you share how you are applying the label.
