Hi everyone,
When users try to login via SSO, Confluence returns a blank page (https://confluence.mydomain.com/plugins/servlet/saml/auth). After putting your cursor in the address bar and hitting the enter button, the login works and Confluence redirects to the main page.
You can still login manually without this issue, so it has to do with the plugin.
Additionally, the plugin has not been updated for the latest LTS Version, which could become critical because there are security issues with the current LTS Version.
Microsoft knows about the issues, as you can read from the reviews on the marketplace page of the addon. We also contacted microsoft directly and got an answer that did not contain more information.
There also are other posts about this issue so we are not the only company affected.
What are your experiences and did you find a sufficient alternative?
Best wishes :)
Hi,
This behavior is typically related to the SAML plugin compatibility with your Confluence version or an incomplete redirect after authentication. Since manual login works and pressing Enter refreshes the URL successfully, it points to a plugin-side redirect/session issue.
You may want to check the following:
* Confirm the plugin supports your current Confluence LTS version
* Review SAML settings (ACS URL, Entity ID, RelayState) for mismatches
* Check browser console and Confluence logs for errors during redirect
* Test in a private/incognito window to rule out cookies/session issues
* Ensure base URL and proxy settings (if any) are correct
If the plugin is not actively maintained or updated for the latest LTS, consider evaluating supported alternatives (e.g., Atlassian Access SSO or another SAML app) to avoid future security risks.
Hope this helps 👍
Hi,
I thought this was made clear in my post. I understand this is a problem linked to the plugin and we have tried to fix it, but as of right now, I only see the options of waiting for an update or using an alternative.
My hope was that there are people in this community that have found an alternative and can share their experience :)
Best wishes
