Is there a way to edit user macros under circumstances where there is no global privilege "Confluen

Hi Confluence support team !

The global authority "Confluence administrator" can browse all users and groups. Therefore, I want to operate without giving the user "Confluence administrator" authority, but macro editing is absolutely necessary. Is there a good way to do this?

Hi!

Users can edit macros on the page as long as they have "Add" permission on the space. Global admin isn't required for this.

Creating/editing User Macros (from System Administration) does require application administration. I don't think you would likely want average users to have this permission anyway, as these involve writing code and have the potential to make your system unstable if improperly coded.

Hope that helps and I'm happy to answer more questions if I misunderstood.

Cheers,
Daniel

Hi

Thanks for reply.

Do I need the "Confluence administrator" of global privilege to create / edit user macros (from system management) without fail? Can I create / edit user macros without "Global Confluence Administrator" authority?

"System Administrator" is the permission needed to create and edit user macros.

These don't need to be modified often, so you could easily have users who want to create them just ask for an administrator to add them. You could give the people interested in writing them higher permissions on a test environment and then just get an administrator to publish the macros they've created to Production.

User Macros can take parameters, so it's also reasonable for those people to write their macros in a way that normal users can add parameters during page editing.
