Is it possible to have authenticated public access?

I've been looking through quite a few help articles and I'm not sure if what I'm looking for has already been documented.

We're trying to determine if it's possible to host our documentation on Confluence Cloud, but make it so users must authenticate before gaining access. So far it seems that our only options are to allow completely anonymous access, or require customers to be licensed (not possible). 

Is it possible to require customers to authenticate before getting access to the articles, and not have them consume a license?
