Hi guys,
we use confluence for our wiki space for the DataSHIELD academic project, it can be found here: https://data2knowledge.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DSDEV/overview
When I first joined the team I was making edits to old pages such as this one: https://data2knowledge.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DSDEV/pages/714571780/v5+Tutorial+for+DataSHIELD+users
It had loads of useful features such as dropdown sections, warning boxes, tip boxes, note boxes, page anchors, amongst other things.
Now, creating new pages such as this one: https://data2knowledge.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DSDEV/pages/1289814017/Version+6.0.1 ,
when I go into the page editor and search the macros for "tip", "warning", "note", "anchor", "drop down" I get no results.
Is this removal of functionality intentional, to "streamline" the service, or is it that our project hasn't ticked a box to download more modern macros? If it's the latter that would be fantastic and a solution to our problems. Just I can't see how to do it.... any advice welcome, thank you so much in advance!
This shows one of the downsides of the Cloud solution -- youhave no version control and macros/features can disappear. Why I recommend the server solution so that you are in control of all the changes, and if there is not support for a critical feature in an update, you just don't move forward.
Thanks for your answer, Bill! Is there any documentation you can point me to regarding the different options of Cloud vs Server solutions?
Cheers once again,
Alex

There is this page:
compare-atlassian-cloud-vs-server
But keep in mind that Atlassian is pushing the cloud solution, so in their list of benefits is "No need to upgrade: Get immediate access to the latest and greatest features, no work required" Which to me is the main downside of the Cloud solution -- no control of the features -- you are just along for the ride.
There is this Cloud benefit they list "Work on the go: Atlassian's cloud products enable your teams to take your work anywhere and can be accessed securely from any browser or our cloud mobile apps. Learn more." But you can do the exact same thing with the server version, so not sure what they are talking about. I have been using Confluence located on a remote server (not on my network) for nearly a decade.
