I am trying to figure out the best way to import a large template with lots of formatting straight onto a Page with the document visible.
I’ve tried the import feature, but it errors out. If I have a word doc with no headers, footers, or images, it does fine. I’d like the content of the document directly on the page.
Any more information on how to import/use template for larger Word docs with much formatting? Or is it not going to work?
I had this same problem, and it did seem like I was running up against some size limitation. I got around it by cutting and pasting half the Word document into a new separate Word document, then importing as 2 separate Confluence pages, then copying the contents of the 2nd page into the 1st.

Hi @Nicholas.Boudreaux - Welcome to the community!
You might be hitting the limitations of the file size and that is why it is erroring. For Google Doc, the file has to be less than 10 MB. For Word or OneDrive it is 100 MB. Here is an article that might help you: https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/import-content-into-confluence-cloud/.

Thank you for replying. The file I'm looking at is, is only 5 MB. I've getting this error:
This file can't be imported: We ran into issues because the file may be wrong type, password protected, or read-only.
Now, I took the file and enabled editing and its still in compatibility mode. Is there something else I'm missing?

Can you provide any more information to my recent questions?

Hi @Nicholas.Boudreaux - So sorry you are experiencing these issues. I'm sure it is frustrating. Here are a couple more things I found that may work:

I did take the file out of Read-Only and resaved it as .docx and it still errored. You're saying if the file has colors, footers/headers, backgrounds etc., it may not upload?
I've tried to open a ticket but I get stuck in a dashboard/discussion board limbo where I can't open a case. Log files from Confluence? Where would I find those? Any help on how to open an actual case and speak with someone would greatly be appreciated.

At this point, @Nicholas.Boudreaux I do not have any more guidance for you except for submitting a request to Atlassian for more help. You can create a ticket here: https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/
