I tried to export a Confluence Page (Cloud Editor) in a PDF file, using the fonction present in the right menu ... -> Export -> Export to PDF.
The image present in the page appears, in PDF file, as a grey rectangle shape with the message "Preview unavailable" at the center.
I've already asked bu AI tells me that there's no bug opened on this topic.
The name of the image doesn't contain strange letters: image-20251121-083148.png
I can't find any anomaly. The image is in the page and not in a macro. In the page there's not other parts macros.
thanks a lot
I hope you are doing well.
I understand that you are getting a preview unavailable instead of the images when you export a page to PDF.
We received similar reports about issues with images on PDFs exports with the same behavior and we reported it already to our development awareness on the bug report:
We have added this ticket internally as a reference. Feel free to add yourself as a watcher to receive all updates on the bug fix in your email.
We understand this is not the ideal scenario, but we wanted to let you know this bug is being worked on already, and the status is currently Waiting for Release, so we should be hearing from the fix soon.

I would check if the image is actually attached to the page (page details > Attachments).
As a next step, I'd try to re-attach the image - this always rectified the missing image for me.

Hi Kris
I can see the attachments: they're two of them, the one my colleague pasted and the one I tried to recreate:
so I've already done the two steps you describe (Thanks a lot anyway! you've been very fast!)
any other idea?

Hi Silvia,
Frankly... no. I've tried to recreat the scenario on my private site, even using a silly file name but it worked. PNG, JPG, Standard Confluence.
Presuming you have Export permission, and the right permission set to see the content (including the png file).
From experience, what can cause issues is custom pdf export CSS which would become incompatible with a Confluence update (done by Atlassian in the background).
Any chance you have a custom CSS?

Hi Kris
We don't have a custom CSS. We're using the confluence original one and, in this page, there's also the standard template.
I'm the administrator of the organization and I have the problem too so I can exclude a permission problem.
So I tried with a page having images
https://digisoft.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/VKB/pages/16700142/Le+interfacce+elettroniche
it's public, you can see it. This is in legacy editor and images are skipped, creating the PDF.
Other test: I'm using Translations for Confluence by Communardo Products GmbH and exporting the page, if I have these macros, even in Cloud Editor, the page will be exported without text, only the title.
We're going to migrate to K15t translations but we need time to do that.
Other test: page with cloud Editor and without Language macros from Translations for Confluence by Communardo Products GmbH:
Export done with success, the image is visible without any problem.
I tried again my page: https://digisoft.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/VegaTechDocs/pages/1074003969/Cambio+Sede+Legale+a+Sede+Operativa
this is in a private space so you can't see that. The image is always a grey rectangle.
Trying another page, always private and always in Cloud Editor (https://digisoft.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/VegaTechDocs/pages/182288406/PandaDoc), the result is the same: no images but grey rectangles.
Private document in Legacy editor:
https://digisoft.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/VegaTechDocs/pages/16253769/Sistemare+una+sequence
export done with success, images are visibile.
Really, I can't figure it out...
