I want to insert a text box - google tells me to hit the text tool but i cant find this tool bar. 

I am trying to write a blog and have inserted an image, which i would like to type along side of.

You can use Confluence plugins like Redefined Toolkit For Confluence Cloud to insert Text box on a Confluence page or you can create a HTML macro like Text entry box. 

Or you can use Handy Macro plugin to insert text box :-
