I've just started a trial version of Confluence and I just get a screen with the logo

Mal MacDonnell August 4, 2020

No menus, buttons, links or data entry fields.

I logged in via the link I got in my "get started..." email.

I am using Edge.

I tried Chrome and the just get the hourglass after logging in.

Interestingly I get asked to add email addresses in IE11 after being told it isn't supported

Hello @Mal MacDonnell !

As I understand, your Confluence site does not load as expected after you created it.

I created a new test site to check if this behavior affected a broader range of sites but it loaded normally. I also checked our incident history but found nothing when looking at the date when you raised the question:

With this in mind, I would like to ask a few questions:

  1. Are you still facing this issue?
  2. Is this behavior present even if you use another browser?
  3. Is this behavior present if you use the Incognito/Anonymous mode of your browser?
  4. Is this behavior present if you clear the browser cache and then try to access Confluence?
  5. Do you have plugins installed in your browser?

Let us hear from you!

Thanks for the reply Diego.

My responses are below.

At this stage I can get by for evaluation of the software, but would want a solution if we decide to sign on, so this is not an urgent issue.

Cheers

Mal

  1. Are you still facing this issue?Yes/No.  Chrome is working after killing it and restarting, but not Edge
  2. Is this behavior present even if you use another browser? No.  Chrome and IE seem to work
  3. Is this behavior present if you use the Incognito/Anonymous mode of your browser? It works on Edge in Incognito
  4. Is this behavior present if you clear the browser cache and then try to access Confluence?Yes, browser has been cleared
  5. Do you have plugins installed in your browser? No, I don't have any extensions installed

Thanks for getting back to me @Mal MacDonnell !

Interesting results. As I understand, Confluence does work in Chrome and also Internet Explorer 11, which is not supported.

May I ask which version of Edge are you using? I currently use Microsoft Edge Version 84.0.522.52 on macOS 10.15.6 and it works as expected.

I reached for a Windows computer and tested it with Edge 84.0.522.58 and it also works as expected.

Recently Microsoft ditched their Browser Engine used in Edge in favor of Chromium. If you happen to be using an older version of Edge, this might be the root cause.

Also, would it be possible for you to share some screenshots of:

  1. The behavior you are presented with when using Edge to access Confluence
  2. The browser console when you try to access Confluence with Edge

Just keep in mind that our Community is an open space and everyone can everything that is posted here. Take care not to disclose sensitive information with the screenshots.

Let us hear from you!
