How have you "mapped" the NAS drive?

Backups can be done to shared storage (although latency and potential disconnects mean it is not a recommended or supported thing to do in most cases), but there are some quirks, and Confluence will not recognise some types.  We don't even know what OS you are on, let alone the mapping method you've used.
