I need to insert [ characters in my page. How do I do that?

I'm documenting error messages that contain [ and ] characters. I can't figure out how to insert those without Confluence believing I want a link.

A reference to any documentation about this would also be nice.

I'm so frustrated I'm about to revert to Word! Yea, that bad.

Couple of things you can do:

Put the error messages into a Code Block Macro as that would insert the brackets without changing it into a link.
Type in the error message with the [ ] brackets and when it gets converted to a link, you hit the undo button. This will change it back to normal text format instead of converting it into a link.
