Our former macros don't work in the spaces. I need to figure out how to update the new space in a manner that is similar to what we used previously
The specific page I am speaking of here is the Recipe Shares page:

I am trying to add a drop down/expandable item and it wont let me
@Sabrynna Gibson , sorry for being a bit late in the game ... I see you've already been getting some great guidance. And yes as mentioned, also can't access the instance since it's on your domain.
While you're working to sort out some issues regarding those existing macros you've been using, just passing along some thoughts overall on another option.
The native Confluence Cloud editor does have an Expand macro (Insert > Other macros > Expand) that creates collapsible sections. You can find it by typing `/expand` in the editor. That said, the native Expand macro has some known limitations — other macros placed inside it often don't render correctly, and it only stacks vertically (one section open or closed at a time).
If the macros you were using previously were more full-featured, such as tabs, styled expandable panels, or collapsible content that contained other macros, the native Expand macro may not fully replicate what you had before.
If you're open to a Marketplace app, I'd suggest taking a look at Aura. And just in full disclosure, I'm a Content Writer with Seibert Group GmbH, the company behind it.
Aura includes Tabs macros (horizontal and vertical) and richer content-organization macros that work reliably within each other, which native Confluence macros don't always do. If your previous setup involved tabbed content or nested macros inside expandable sections, Aura is likely closer to what you're trying to recreate.
If you can share a bit more about what the original macros looked like or what app they came from, it would help narrow down exactly what to use as a replacement.
Thanks!

Hello @Sabrynna Gibson
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
We are a community of users of the Atlassian apps. We don't have access to your instance and cannot view the page you referenced.
We can try to advise you if you can answer a few questions for us.
When you say it "won't let you" add the element, how exactly are you being blocked? Is the element you want not available? Are you getting an error message? Can you provide a screen image to show us what is happening?
When you say your "former macros" don't work in new spaces, do they still work in old spaces? Can you provide a screen image showing the use of the macro?
Could this be related to the deprecation of the old Confluence editor?
Could the issue be related to macros that may no longer be directly supported in the new editor?

>>I use the insert function on the toolbar and it does nothing
Is the element you want not available?
>>it is available but wont insert
Are you getting an error message?
>>no error message given
Can you provide a screen image to show us what is happening?
>> will try to upload screenshots, but it is not letting me here so they may be seperate
When you say your "former macros" don't work in new spaces, do they still work in old spaces?
>>The old spaces are read only now
Can you provide a screen image showing the use of the macro?
>>no - the old space wont allow edits anymore
Could this be related to the deprecation of the old Confluence editor?
>>yes??
Could the issue be related to macros that may no longer be directly supported in the new editor?
>>the transition team got the macros from the old space to transfer somehow....

Unfortunately your attempts to upload screen images don't appear to have worked. Are you using the Rich Text editor for your posts and selecting the Insert Photos option?
Without those images and without access to your environment it is difficult to hypothesize on the root cause.
Are you trying to edit a Page, a Live Doc, a Whiteboard, or a Blog?
What is the name of he element you are trying to insert? I can find an element named Expand, but not one named Dropdown, in my own Confluence Cloud environment.
Are you trying to insert the macro within another existing macro in the artifact you are editing?
Do other users have the same issue executing the same steps?
Have you escalated this issue to the administrators of your Confluence instance? If they are unable to discover the root cause they could escalate to Atlassian Technical support.
