I am unable to open a word document that has been exported from Confluence Cloud as a gdoc?

While I export a word document from Confluence page and try to upload the document as gdoc. The upload is accepted. But, then I am unable to open the uploaded document in gdoc format.

This is a horrible workaround. It's been since 2012?!? THis is not a solution. If you can't export to *.doc then why not just export to opendocument format, even ms-office can open an odt, then at least I'll be able to open it in LibreOffice on Linux/MacOS
