Hi Everyone,
We have a group on confluence for my department and we would like to share one page from that group to several users of confluence which are not in this group.
To make it clear I want to share :
- ONLY 1 page from this group
- WITHOUT giving access to the group
- to USERS of confluence
Also I would like to share this page on a permanent way, meaning, I would like the concerned users to be able to see the changes I make without having to give them access again.
Thank you for your help on this matter.
Hi Paul,
to be sure about the used terminology, do you maybe mean a Space?
Space: "Spaces are Confluence's way of organizing content into meaningful categories. Think of them like different folders where you can store your work."
Group: "For Confluence administrators, grouping users in Confluence is a great way to cut down the work required when managing permissions and restrictions"
Assuming you mean a Space and the other users do not have access to view the Space,
I'd say the first two options are favorable.
Regards
Niklas
Whoops, seems like while I was writing my answer two other fellow Community members did the same. ;)

Hi Niklas,
Thank you for your answer, Thomas told me about this solution as well, I thought about it but like said above, it is not really practical regarding the number of users in this group.
I think i mean space :)

Hi Paul,
this is the only way to do that:
I would create two pages underneath the home page: "public" and "private". Then put your page underneath the public page.
Put all the other pages under the private page and restrict the page "private" to your group.
But to be honest, I wouldn't do that. Every time, someone is adding a page, you have to take care that this page is under the restricted subtree. It's an administration hell.

Hi Thomas,
I thought about this solution as well but these exact problems came to my mind. There's 80+ people on this group and at least 10% of them will forget to do so. (and its really time-consuming)
Thank you anyway !

Hi Paul,
Can you clarify the comment "- to USERS of confluence"? Also, this one page just needs to be viewed by several Confluence users not in the department group? How is your Confluence set up (e.g. space per department group)?
If you have space creation permissions, you can always create a separate space for information that only pertains to these specific Confluence users and restrict that space. You could also restrict one individual page too within the department space.
With Confluence permissions, you can give access to that page once to the Confluence users, and not have to give them access again.
Here is documentation around space Permissions in Confluence:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/space-permissions-overview-139521.html
And page restrictions (remember the users must have permission to the space to have permission to view the page):
https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/page-restrictions-139414.html
Hope this helps!
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,
First thank you for your quick answer !
By "to USERS of Confluence" I mean that I'm not looking to share a page with non-users as I know it is an open topic.
Our Confluence set up is the following : each department has a group of its own.
The thing is we don't want to create another space just for this as there are already too many of them. On the other hand, we don't want to give them permission to access the entirety of this space.
We just want to give access to one page of this space to users which do not have access to the whole space.

You're welcome :) The other answers cover everything I can think of for this scenario.
