Hi, looking for help setting up a Confluence table to have the status label as a drop down in each cell. I am not seeing where this can be configured. I see some templates have it available but not an option otherwise. Thanks in advance
Hello @Sara Angel
The native Confluence Status macro requires entering a new value in the edit mode each time you need to change it. Alternatively, you can use third-party macros to add statuses with dropdowns and update them without page edits. As you describe this behavior being present on some of your pages, I believe some of the third-party macros are used there.
Our Handy Macros for Confluence has the Handy Status macro. It allows you to insert a status from multiple customizable status sets and switch it in the page view mode. You can sync it to page labels to report and track the history of changes.

Hi @Sara Angel
That feature is built-in into the Confluence Databases. You can edit/add status labels directly from a Database cell.

Hi @Kristian Klima Thank you! I am looking for the status label. Not sure why it did not upload my original photo but it looks like this.

Hey @Sara Angel , just came across this post—know it’s a bit old but figured I’d drop in a note for anyone else digging through the forums for the same thing.
Yeah unfortunately Confluence doesn’t really support dropdown-style status macros inside tables by default. Usually the status macro has to be edited manually in each cell, and it gets pretty fiddly, especially if you’re dealing with lots of rows.
One thing I’ve seen folks do is just pre-populate a table using templates with set statuses already in place—but that only helps with initial setup, not updating.
We actually ran into this same problem and ended up building Advanced Status Labels for Confluence. It lets you drop in a pill-style label anywhere (including inside tables), and you can just click and choose a new status from a dropdown—no editing the page. It's free too so could be worth a try if you're still hunting for a better workflow.
Hope that helps someone down the track.
