Fellow Atlassians,

I have a Word document that has comments in it and am trying to import it into Confluence. When I do so, the comments become inline content on the imported page and are not retained as comments. How do I make Confluence to retain the comments and not as inline text?

Thanks much!

Hello there, @Sharat Ramachandra. Glad to see that every day we have new faces collaborating here with the community! Welcome to the community.

As I understand, your inline comments from the word document are “translated” to page content instead of generating an equivalent inline comment in Confluence or at least create a new comment.

I tried to replicate this and was able to. With this in mind, I was able to find a report that tackles this situation. We can check it right here:

Currently, the only workaround is to remove the comments in Word before importing the files into Confluence. Our best course of action is to vote and watch the report. Voting helps to increase the issue visibility and watching will keep you up to date with everything.

The good part is that this bug is already part of the developers' backlog, as per the current issue status (December, 11th 2019) .

Let us hear from you, Sharat!
