How to edit a uploaded file for collaboration on Confluence?

How would I be able to upload a file and where can I manage document drafting and editing directly on screen rather than downloading/uploading documents where every User is then always looking at and working on the latest version of the text?

While Confluence Cloud does have a real-time Collaborative editing feature, it only works on Confluence pages.

It's not currently possible to use this feature with documents, such as those managed with the Office Connector. We have a feature request for that below:

If you want to be able to collaboratively edit attached documents now, I recommend using Google Drive to host your documents. You'll be able to embed the document directly into Confluence, and use Google's collaboration feature. See Insert the Google Drive Macro for information on how to embed Google documents into Confluence.
