Hi,
I'm using a Comala Document Workflow to approve pages that contain a specific label (unfortunately, we don’t have access to the Publishing macro).
Based on our requirements, we work with two spaces:
Once a page is approved in the working space, the workflow automatically copies the page into the official space.
My goal is to copy the approved page into a predefined page structure within the official space. However, the workflow always copies it to the root level of the official space.
Each time the workflow copies the page, a new version is added to the existing page. But if I move the page into the correct structure, the next automatic copy overwrites it and I lose the version history.
Has anyone encountered this issue and found a workaround or another practical solution to preserve both the structure and the page history?
I used Comala Document Approval with Comala Publishing for the very same purpose, and experimented with other apps, more here.
I'm not if that's possible (and there are other limitations as well).
Space sync apps (including Copy Page Tree by Appfire, maker of Comala apps) also copy and establish hierarchical relationship between the pages upon the first copy. Subsequent syncs use the available 'web' to slot the page where it needs to be.
This is obvious when you 'sync' pages - a new version is added to a page in the target, as opposed to creating a new page every time (hence the need for the app to have writing permissions in the target space).
Not just that, those sync apps also 'convert' links from the source to the target page so that a link in your target space doesn't point to a page in the source space.
I suggest that you contact Comala support and discuss your option.
(BTW, I actually thought that space sync/publishing is included in those Management and Control apps.)
