How do you migrate documentation from one company's Confluence to another company's Confluence?

We had a vendor work for us on documentation and now they want us to move the documentation from their Confluence to ours but I can not figure out if/how you do this.

The obvious route is "space export, space import"

If you can gather your stuff together into one space, that means you can do it in one hit.  In that space, go to space-admin -> content -> export and select "xml export".  That gives you a file that you can give to a Confluence admin (not a space admin or ordinary user) on the target site for import - even if it doesn't look the same or is missing some macros or app data, it is a really easy way to get a big block of content across.  And it's usually smooth and easy, with server to cloud, server to server often being "easy" and Cloud to Cloud "even easier"
