I want to add users A, B and C to the group X, so that I can give reading/writing access to group X instead of users A, B C individually every time. HOW?!

Hi Melanie,

In Confluence Server, you can add users to groups using the procedure found at Adding or Removing Users in Groups:

To add members to a group:

  1. Choose the cog icon , then choose General Configuration
  2. Choose Groups in the left-hand panel
  3. Choose the group to which you want to add users
  4. Choose Add Members
  5. Type the username(s) of the people you want to add to the group
    • If you want to add more than one member, separate the usernames with commas
    • You can also search for and select users by choosing the search icon
  6. Choose Add to add the member(s) to the group

For Cloud, see this article instead: Manage Groups

Once you set up your group, you can go to the Page Restrictions and add them there to edit permissions.

For notifying users, when you edit a page, anyone already watching the page or space will be notified of a change. If you want to directly send the page to users, you can Share a page or Blog Post with the group.

I hope that's clear, but do let me know if you have any questions!

Regards,

Shannon

Hi Melanie! Are you referring to Bitbucket Cloud? You can find the instructions about hoe to create a group at Organize groups for your repositories.

Let us know if you need any help!

Kind regards,

Ana

Dear Ana,

no, not Bitbucket but Confluenc (I think. I am not even sure if one is part of the other of whethere they are separate but interacting or...)

Example: I have a page in Confluence and want to determine who can edit. Instead of adding all of my 15 team members individually by name, I want to have a user-group called "Team A" and restrict editing to Team A with one click instead of 15 drop down menues with user names.

Same when I want to inform a specific group of people about a change. I don't want to inform all, but members of Team A and B, or, for another page edit, I want to inform Team B and C. Where/how can I make and edit such user-groups/teams?

Kind regards!

Melanie
