Moving from Server to Cloud.
Another possibly horrifying discovery about something crippled in Cloud Editor.
I want to set up a common images page that we can use as a single source.
In Server we could add images / attachments to a page, then use the Add Image button in the editor to get a box that would let us import images, link to a URL or reference images on another page.
This lets us keep images with one source of truth. And ALSO, if the image needs changing (assuming it stays the same size) we can just upload a replacement to the reference page, and all the other pages receive the update automatically.
I cannot see how to do this in Cloud. The insert image option is now a tiny box with two options.
I came across a post in the Community forums that seem to indicate that it might be not possible in cloud.
Which if true, would be another incomprehensible decision on the part of Atlassian.
Copying images across every page that uses it is the OPPOSITE of what HTML was designed to do, and certainly the opposite of a knowledge management system that Confluence is supposed to be.
Hey there @Norman Cates ,
This feature still exists in the Legacy editor, but is not present in the new Cloud editor yet.
Here is the Suggestion for this feature:
This is a highly requested feature and currently in "Under Consideration" status, so make sure to Vote, Watch and add a Comment to increase it's traction.
Hope this helps! =]
You can create a page and put individual images into individual excerpts. Then you simply use insert excerpt (excerpt include) macro on a new page and point it to the specific image's excerpt.
I think there's an app in the Atlassian Marketplace that creates an image library that should work for your use case.

Excerpts are almost a way of doing it. But there is formatting cruft added by the macro.
But its a terribly inefficient way to manage this kind of thing.
Most critically, you can't add links to excerpt, so images in an excerpt become unlinkable.
This existed in Server, and if its not in Cloud then once again Atlassian have removed existing functionality that has a efficiency and data consistency purpose.
As for an app, unlikely to be able to get an app, plus I fundamentally object to having to spend yet MORE money for functionality that existed previously.
