I have uploaded a number of .docx and .xlsx files but when I open this on a published page the formatting isn't the same as the document created.

Hi @Martin Seale and welcome to the Community.

Unfortunately, importing content from a doc file is always a lottery as Word can introduce all sorts of complex xml structures that can't be resolved.

What works for me may sound tedious but it always save me time - because I didn't have to do extensive content cleanup that's is a must when importing doc files directly.

What I do...

  1. Copy paste the page from the word document to a Google doc.
  2. Copy paste the page from the Google doc onto a Confluence page.

For me, this produces much better results every time.

Note: Images might be an issue but so they are with direct imports.

With xls, again, direct copy past from Excel / G-docs to Confluence works better for me.

Hi Kristian,

Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately copying and pasting directly into confluence isn't going to work in this instance.

Regards

Martin
