How can I create a dynamic report in Confluence?

Hi,

I would like to create a page in Confluence that displays content that has been pulled in from multiple Confluence pages. That way, when the originally content is updated, it dynamically updates on the display page.

For instance, let's say i have a page where I'm providing status on a project. I want my status to appear on another page with status updates that are all pulled from other projects, is that possible? Is there a plugin for this? I would appreciate any help or guidance.

Hello Ian, 

Using the Page Properties Macro on your child pages and utilizing the Page Properties Report macro on a "parent" report page may display the information you are looking for.

In addition to what Mike suggests,the Scaffolding plugin can do what you request, and more.

There is also at least one plugin that makes it pretty simple to run dynamic reports that hit external SQL databases. (SQL for Confluence). 

We use these, as well as the excerpt and multi-excerpt macros.

There are a variety of ways you can do this. The simplest is just to use the "include page" macro to embed an entire page in your roll-up page. As the pages that are "included" are updated, the roll-up will be updated as/when it happens. If you only want a chuck of those pages, you can use the "excerpt" (on the source page) and the "excerpt-include" macro on the target page. If you like the excerpt approach but have more than one element of a source page to include, there is an extra cost option plugin for "multi-excerpts". We use all those methodologies in our shop.

Additionally, if you have live information on tasks in JIRA, I highly recommend setting up the trust between Confluence and JIRA so you can use the JIRA macro and insert results of queries in your status pages. You can also have multiple JIRA configured against the one Confluence instance (I have two on mine)
