I have a team who recently started using JIRA. We really find it good to use but there is one thing we need to have in the issue layout. We need to capture the volume based on the type of requests we get. so that while extracting the data we can also capture the volume as well.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

The "volume" as I read your question is useless to show on an issue, as it's always going to be 1, meaning "this issue".

But reporting on the number of issues by request makes sense.  I would

  • Create a filter for the issues (requests) you are interested in.  (Project = XYZ, or "project = XYZ and resolution is empty", or "project = XYZ and created > -1m" - loads of options of ranges of data to see)
  • Create a dashboard
  • Add a "filter statistics" gadget to it, with
  • Filter = saved filter you defined earlier
  • Group by = type

You'll get a simple bar chart of <what you searched for> by issue type (or any other field you are interested in.

A very common variation on this which seems to be popular with my customers is to use a 2-dimensional version.  They choose type on the x-axis, and then status on the y-axis.  That tells them not only "requests by type", but also "and where they are in the process".  They look for things like "22 issues that are bugs that are in progress" and "folks, we've got 68 password resets that no-one has looked at yet"

Hi @Parida, Shriyansu Sekhar,

One easy way to achieve this is by using the Cumulative Flow Diagram (CFD) gadget/macro offered by our Great Gadgets app.

This gadget can be configured to display data by issue type (request type in you case). It is highly configurable.

Please note that this app offers many other gadgets that you might find useful. Just have a look over the articles from our blog to make a better idea. It can be great asset for your team.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, please contact us at support@stonikbyte.com.

What do you mean by volume? Number of Issues?

You are mentioning "Requests". Are you using Jira Service Management?

Depending on what statistics you're needing, Dashboards or Reports would be the thing to look at. Either isn't really shown in the issue view and I wouldn't recommend trying to achieve that.
