We are contemplating creating release notes and requirement documents in confluence, rather than word and it makes sense to create and publish these on a page by page basis so we can distribute a document per release or requirement. Clearly this confidential information would need to be sent in pdf format.
The obvious way to do this is via the ... Export to PDF function - fantastic!
It is necessary for to add page headers and footers and branding on the front page. Researching this page https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/customize-exports-to-pdf-190480945.html both of these seem possible - excellent!
But then we notice the limitations section, specifically the first bullet: Changes to the PDF layout only apply to space exports, not to single page exports (via > Export to PDF).
How can I add a header and footer information to a single page pdf export please? the Export to Word is a last resort option because it adds additional steps and we might as well just create the information in word in the first place.
Many thanks
You can do this in my team's app Scroll PDF Exporter.
Let me know if you want to see how, we'd be happy to show you.
@John H as far as I know, you will need to use Confluence add-on/s to customise the pdf export for a specific page.
If your only use case for all of this is release notes, you may want to look at our Jira add-on Automated Release Notes.
It can publish the release notes directly in Confluence as well as generate them in multiple other formats, including PDF.
But of course, if your case is broader than just release notes - then definitely the Confluence add-ons may make more sense.
