Guest User Invitations will not send

I want to invite guest users however I keep getting blocked at the point of sending the invite from the admin users section

I keep getting the same error dialog i,e "We couldn't send the invitation - try inviting that user again"

Please also advise how once would go about converting an existing user to a guest? I have tried to uncheck the "user" button and check the "guest" button. When I do this then the user is removed from their group - Is this expected behaviour?

Am I correct in my understanding that guests invites must happen in 2 places 1. to send the invite and 2. Add the guest to the space through space permissions?

I am also having this issue. I need to invite a guest user first before adding them to a space, but when I try to do so I also keep getting "We couldn't send the invitation - try inviting that user again"

A guest can't be a user. So I would expect this behaviour to be correct.

If you want to convert a user to a guest, then remove him/her from every group and give him the "guest" license. Once you've done this you also need to adjust the guest permissions to your space that you invited them:
