I'm uploading a file of 1.5MB in size with 10MB attachment size limit in Confluence settings. Upload fails with HTTP Error message under upload progress bar.

File itself is JPG file with wrong header information (see attachment).

The problem lied in server configuration where Confluence was installed.

We use nginx as a proxy to transfer requests from virtualhost to actual TomCat post of Confluence. After inspecting Network tab of Chrome browser during upload HTTP 413: Entity Too Large error was discovered, that was coming in from Nginx.

After a bit of Googling solution was found: increase size of "client_max_body_size" setting in Nginx configuration.
