Recently it appears that something has changed between Confluence and Word preventing Word from saving a document or copying content to another new document.
My scenario - I have release notes saved by Engineering on a Confluence page, this includes links to the JIRA tickets that implemented the change (so that they can be easily tracked through by internal users). The page exports to Word doc fine but then cannot be saved.
Upon investigation it appears that the culprit is the little defect/story/sub-task icons that are included in the export when JIRA links are embedded. Removing these from the Doc allows the content to be copied to another document (a client-facing release note template, for example) and allow the document to be saved either locally or on onedrive.
This worked fine until a few months ago as this is the way I have always done release notes but thought it worth mentioning in case there are plans to change how this works in Confluence.
The little icons cause an issue with Word, either because of something that's changed in Confluence or Word becoming more sensitive to web-page / graphic content within Doc files.
To workaround it for now I just find/replace, select special > graphic and replace with nothing. This removes all icons and images from the document and allows it to be copied safely or saved properly.
i cant find anything else at the momment
