Export Page to PDF

When Exporting a Page to PDF multiple spaces or icons for example the > sign converts to ? (question marks) and makes some text unreadable or difficult to read. 
Another issue that happens is there are overlapping text when in a numbered listing, for examples numbers 1 and 2 in a List would appear directly on top of each other.

Is there a way to fix this using the PDF Export customization options or is there something else that I need to do...
