I have an embedded database in Confluence that I use for note-taking during meetings. Up until recently, it’s been working fine, but now I’m running into a frustrating problem — during a session, the database will randomly “reconnect” and when it does, it wipes all the notes and filled-in fields I’ve entered.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Is there a known fix or setting to prevent the database from timing out/reconnecting mid-session?
Could this be related to my internet connection, Confluence updates, or the database integration itself?
Any guidance or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated — losing an entire meeting’s worth of notes is painful.
Hi @Calvin Sims ,
Out of curiosity, what’s the main reason you’ve opted for using an embedded database for meeting notes? After the meetings, is the goal to have all the information stored and searchable in a database format?
I’m wondering if a simpler approach — like keeping the notes in a Confluence table — could meet your needs, or if there’s something specific about the database setup that’s essential for your workflow.

Hey @Mia Tamm - Simple Table for Confluence ,
That's exactly right. A majority of my day is in meetings, so I really like being able to search by participants or title to find specific things from 2-3 weeks ago. I also like the ability to open a separate "page" and include notes and updates without having to put the page in edit mode. I also realize that Live Doc has added the edit-less functionality, but doesn't allow the searching. I also filter my database to only show the last 2 weeks which keeps things tidy. Maybe this is all doable with Live Doc and I just haven't realized a simpler approach.

Hi @Calvin Sims
Reading through your workflow, I think there’s a potential approach that might fit what you’re trying to achieve. We’re currently working on a proof of concept in Simple Tables for Confluence that would integrate with the Page Properties macro.
The idea is that you could keep each meeting’s notes in its own page (with a table inside Page Properties), and then Simple Table would be able to pull those tables together into one place — allowing you to group, filter, and search across them without losing the per-meeting separation.
This could give you the same “searchable database” feel, but with more flexibility and without risking losing in-session notes due to reconnections. If you’d like, I can keep you posted once we have something ready to test.

Sounds like an interesting approach. I think the idea of creating a page and linking it within the table could work but kinda adds a little extra work in the workflow. I'll fiddle a little bit while hoping that databases get some stability updates.

It sounds great @Calvin Sims I will let you know when we release the POC in Simple Tables.
Cheers.
