EDiting child page not notified

I have opted a slack channel notification "edit child page" on parent page, bt it is not working whenever there is a an edits on child page, no slack message. I have to set the notification on child page level to get this done. How to fix this? My requirement is if there is an edit on any of my child page, i should get notified on subscribed slack channel.
