Dear all,

I am actually study confluence administration and user rights.
usually when i am allocated permission in other system, we used to define :

- Roles, groups and users.

Roles are then linked to groups and user attached to groups.

When looking at confluence admin, I could not find way to create roles that I can associated to groups.

Does this exist in a way ?

Regards

Hello there,

Thank you for contacting us about this. Happy to help you with this.

So, the roles in Confluence are controlled by adding users to specific groups, applied through the Global Permissions Overview. The main roles are: Site Admins, Confluence Admins, and Users (not including System Admins which is another role in Confluence Server, but not cloud.)

For example, if you want someone to have the role of "Site Admin" then you would need to add them to the group site-admins. Confluence admins would need to be in administrators

For more information on the groups and their default permissions, you can review Create Groups and Update Permissions

If you want to break your regular users down into more granular permissions, then you want to consider what spaces they need to have access to, and what they should be able to do. Then you can update your Global or Space permissions based on this.

If you have a particular permission you want to apply, but aren't sure how, please let me know, and I can guide you through that.

Regards,

Shannon
