We currently use Jira and Confluence. We have some users who are only licensed for Confluence. I currently have a space/page in Confluence where I pull in certain values from a project in Jira to essentially show a list of projects that my team is working on/has in their queue. I don't need the Confluence users to interact with that list at all, but would like them to be able to view it to see where their project sits in the queue. When they try to access the page, they only see: "Data cannot be retrieved due to an unexpected error. View these issues in Jira". Do users have to be licensed for Jira to see Jira data on Confluence pages? Is there a better way I could be showing this group of users this set of data?
Understanding Jira-Confluence Integration
License Requirements: Typically, to view Jira issues within Confluence, users must have access to both Jira and Confluence. This is because the integration often directly queries Jira's API to retrieve and display data, requiring users to have valid permissions in Jira to view these issues.
Error Message: The error message your users are encountering ("Data cannot be retrieved due to an unexpected error. View these issues in Jira") usually indicates a permissions issue where the Confluence users trying to view the Jira data do not have the necessary permissions in Jira.
Hello @Thomas Applebay,
If using a third-party app is an option for you, I suggest taking a look at our application Elements Publish.
With our app you can automatically create Confluence pages from Jira issues using recipes. It integrates with Automation and workflows with post-functions but it has many more features than the native solution. Indeed, you can :
Don't hesitate to try our app, it's free during 30 days and stays free under 10 users.
Let me know if you have any question!
