While writing in Confluence, I often click a place that's not text or image and end up with a "select all" (blue background) and it delete the entire page content. I want to disable that, feature since I never need it and it's very annoying.
Here's the issue. I click just inside the left margin and the whole thing turns blue. The NEXT keystroke wipes out everything.
Hello Steve,
Welcome to Atlassian Community. It's nice to have you join us.
Confluence doesn't have a specific feature that would cause your entire page content to be selected. In order to do that, you'd need to trigger a shortcut, such as ctrl/cmd+A. However, this isn't a specific Confluence shortcut, but triggered by your operating system. Therefore, I believe the problem is likely caused by something external to Confluence.
Thank you,
Shannon

Steve,
Thank you for sharing your example with me. In this case, it appears you're working with page layouts, and when selecting the margin of a single layout, it will select that section and delete it. Note that if you have multiple layouts, it will only remove the one you've selected. The entire page content will be removed only if the page contains a single layout.
The behavior is the intended one in order to select the page layout, but I'm checking now to see if there are any plans or requests to change the behavior when you start typing after having selected the layout.
I'll follow-up with you when I have more information on that.
Take care,
Shannon

Hello Steve,
My apologies for the long delay; I was without a computer for a few days. I spoke with the team, and I've since raised this as an improvement request:
You can vote on the request, and you'll automatically be updated in the future if there are any updates on this.
Thank you again, and take care.
Shannon
